Below is a list of event dates and deadlines for chapter leaders, advisors, and prospective members to be aware of during the 2025–2026 academic year. Information will be added and/or updated throughout the year.
Important Dates for Sororities and Fraternities
AUGUST 2025
All chapter presidents and advisors should plan to attend the Fall 2025 virtual meeting where OSFL will provide an overview of the OSFL Recognition Policy, Social Events Policy, and University Recognized Housing Policy. All organizations must send a representative to the policy meeting and should contact their Chapter Coach to schedule a re-registration meeting. Contact osfl@iu.edu with questions.
Any organizations interested in hosting a high-profile performer during the fall semester and/or an event with over 500 people must submit an interest form by August 15. This form will initiate the campus space reservation planning process. All contracts should not be signed until after the initial planning meeting.
The Greek Fee is assessed each semester through the bursar. Information regarding the Greek Fee is available on our website.
Housed Greek Organizations must update their live-in rosters in Teams by August 24. Instructions for how to do so will be provided to Chapter Presidents and Chapter Advisors for Housed Greek Organizations. If you have questions, please email osfl@iu.edu.
As outlined in the University Recognized Housing Policy and the OSFL Recognition Policy, Housed Greek Organizations must submit proof of their General Liability insurance policy to OSFL. Greek organizations may not register and host events until this documentation is submitted. Documentation can be sent to osfl@iu.edu.
The house corporation board president or their representative must submit the University Recognized Housing Acknowledgement Form. This must be submitted before an organization can be a fully registered student organization. Greek organizations may not register and host events until this documentation is submitted to OSFL.
Meeting with representatives from Greek Housed Organizations to review housing expectations, health and safety requirements, and campus resources specific for housed organizations. Meeting information will be sent directly to housed organizations. Contact osfl@iu.edu with questions.
First due date for social event registration. As a reminder, social events cannot begin until the organization is officially registered as a sorority/fraternity and student organization, and until the first weekend of the academic year.
Chapter Presidents must complete the re-registration process on beINvolved and meet with their Chapter Coach and Chapter Advisor to review OSFL and SILC policies prior to August 25. Organizations cannot register social events until they are a fully registered student organization. Information about OSFL policies can be viewed on our website.
Women interested in participating in PHA Primary Recruitment during the spring semester must register through ICS during this time frame. Information about how and where to register is located on the PHA website.
The first House Directors and Live-in Advisor meeting for the academic year will take place on August 28 at 11:30 a.m. Please contact osfl@iu.edu to be added to the House Director and Live-in Advisor listserv.
SEPTEMBER 2025

The New Member and Intake Coordinator Training is for chapter officers serving as the New Member Educator and Intake Coordinator for their chapters. Chapter officers will gain the skills and education to create safe, fun, and inclusive events free of hazing. Questions about New Member Educator and Intake Coordinator Training should be directed to Samantha Robinson, Senior Assistant Director for Standards and Accountability, at samcrobi@iu.edu.

All Greek Organizations that are participating in New Member Education and Intake for the Fall 2025 semester must complete the OSFL Intent for New Member Intake and Education Form.
Greek Organizations will be asked to upload a PDF of their education plan and a detailed timeline of the education. As stated in the OSFL Recognition Policy, new member education/intake processes are limited to six weeks. All new members must be initiated at the end of the process.
This program serves as a foundational experience for new members of the MGC and NPHC communities to connect with one another, learn about council culture, and align with community expectations. Registration will become available August 1.
Attend an event or follow up on social media to learn more about how to stop hazing at IU. Follow OSFL and IU Student Life to learn more about events taking place during National Hazing Awareness Week and how you can stop hazing at IU.
OCTOBER 2025
Information regarding the Checklist Policy and Procedures can be viewed here. If you are an authorized chapter accountant or representative, you can file a checklist request here for unpaid Fall 2025 semester balances.
Chapter presidents, advisors, house directors, live-in advisors, and council officers should plan to attend the OSFL Homecoming meeting in preparation for IU Homecoming 2025. Meeting information will be sent via email to student leaders and advisors. If you are a student leader or chapter advisor and are not receiving emails, please reach out to osfl@iu.edu to be added to the email list.
The Office of Sorority and Fraternity Life is hosting our annual Emerging Leaders Retreat on October 4. This retreat is designed and developed by the OSFL staff to empower, encourage, and give tangible leadership skills to members of the sorority and fraternity community to make positive change within their organization, council, and the IU community. Registration will be shared with chapter presidents and council officers to forward to their members.

Event notifications for all events that take place during Homecoming Week are due by 11:59 PM. All chapter leaders should review the OSFL Social Events Policy and their respective Council policies prior to submitting event notifications.
All members of sororities and fraternities are required to participate in programming dependent upon their year in their organization. More information about required educational programming can be found on our website.
Join the sorority and fraternity community for the annual Treats with Greeks event at the end of October on N. David Baker Avenue. This website will be updated once the date and time is finalized. All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or a trusted adult.

In these instances, students who have been charged the Greek Fee for the Fall semester may submit a fee waiver request. This information will be used to compile community data to show the impact Sorority and Fraternity students have on our community during the Fall 2025 semester. Chapter Presidents have been provided with helpful templates to collect the data needed for this survey if not already regularly collected.

OSFL’s Greek Leadership Academy will take place on January 24, 2026. During GLA, chapter leaders from all four councils will engage in community building, leadership development, and goal setting. Information about this leadership experience and how to register will be sent via email to chapter leaders. Membership Educator and Intake Training will also take place at GLA 2026.
