Loaner Laptop

Let us loan you a laptop

If you are a current Indiana University Bloomington student in need of a loaner laptop due to unforeseen circumstances and do not have the financial means to address this need, please contact the Student Care and Resource Center.

Our loaner laptop program, in partnership with Wells Library, can help. You will submit your application through our office. If your application is approved, you’ll receive an approval letter with instructions to pick up your laptop at the Equipment Checkout Desk in room W106 on the first floor of the West Tower of Wells Library. Laptops can be picked up Monday–Friday from 12–5 p.m.

Borrowing guidelines

The Student Care and Resource Center provides a limited number of laptops for currently-enrolled students to borrow for up to a semester.

Here’s what students need to know about borrowing a laptop:

  • Please bring your Indiana University Crimson Card with you to check out a laptop.
  • Students must be enrolled in the current semester.
  • Laptops can be borrowed for up to one semester.
  • Additional lending periods will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
  • Students who do not return a laptop on time may be prohibited from checking out a laptop in the future.
  • Borrowers are responsible for the equipment during the loan period and may be liable for any damages. If a laptop is not returned, it will be considered lost and the borrower will be liable for a replacement fee ($900 for the laptop, $50 for the charger). A registration hold will also be placed on the borrower's Bursar account until the laptop is returned or the fee is paid.
